There are a flurry of auctions about to held within the coming months, and one of them is the ‘Extreme Progeny Auction’ hosted by Silver Penn Sales. Lets get right down to the event preview, and animals to watch for in this year’s auction.
Lot #1: Golden’s Luscious Lashes
Quite a name on this girl, but don’t be mislead, she was quite the competitor in the show ring last year taking a blue ribbon at MaPaca and a blue + reserve championship at PAOBA 2008. Her dam, ‘Snowmass Golden Lace’ sold for $130,000 at the 2007 Snowmass Making of Champions Sale, and is one of the more dominant maternal lines in the country. Lashes’ sire, Royal Rose is a fawn Hemingway son.
Lot #12: JLFA Peruvian Michelangelo’s Panthea
This was one of my favorite greys in the show ring this year. She consistently placed in the top two at level 5 shows, and won two Championships to boot. Her micron is an astounding AFD 18.7 SD 3.3 CV 17.5, which is difficult to find in a grey, let alone such a unique shade of lavender. Panthea’s sire is El Nino’s Accoyo Michelangelo, making her 1/2 Accoyo. If you breed for that Accoyo color mix, this is your gal for the year.
Lot #18: Constantinople by Torbio
3x Champion, fawn Torbio son owned by Magical Farms Inc.
Lot #22: Michelangelo’s Accoyo Anastasia
I’m a big fan of El Nino’s Accoyo Michelangelo, and Anastasia is an example why. Impressive micron, AFD 16.7 SD 3.3 CV 19.9, and a solid year shown as a Juvenile in the ring. The serious full Accoyo breeders should be licking their chops for this one. Should be a solid foundation female once of age.
Lot #25: AML Bella Vanilla
Sadly, Phyllis Decker has retired from the Alpaca industry, but fortunately her herd will live on at Cagney’s Way Alpacas. This means that undefeated AML Principio and other Champion foundation animals will be managed there. This full Peruvian fawn female has an impressive histogram AFD 18.1 SD 2.8 CV 15.7 and is one of the first Principio offspring offered at auction.
Lot #27: Silvercloud Farm’s Notorious
I mentioned this male in reference to a feature done recently on his sire, Silvercloud Farm’s Mercurio. Caligula through Presido also backs up Notorious through his dam. Solid genetics. Awesome fleece. Micron: 16.8 / SD: 3.0 / CV: 18.2; shown this year in the juvenile class taking home four blue-ribbons, all at level 5 shows.
Lot #41: SA Tuscan’s Luna Di Bella Vita
Tuscan Gold offspring have been getting a lot of attention of late due to their extremely fine fleeces and this girl is no exception; 14.7 AFD.
Lot #46: Maple Brook Michella
Solid true black foundation female that has consistently produced blue-ribbon winners and Champions. If you have a colored breeding program that does not limit yourself to specific heritages and bloodlines, this might be a good buy at auction.
